Qualifications:

High school diploma or G.E.D. Completion of IAAO Course I and Orion Residential/Agricultural data collection course as schedule permits. Employee is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all certification requirements relative to the position. Experience in computer skills and calculator, knowledge of building structures and basic math skills. Ability to work well with general public. Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

Job Objectives: Assist in collection of data, inspections and valuation of real estate property in Reno County for ad valorem tax purposes. Essential Job Functions: Participate in annual 17% review of real estate. Inspect and appraise new construction, remodeling, alterations and repairs of buildings and other improvements within the county. Assist in verification of sales information and the development and maintenance of sales data files. Assist with all levels of the hearing process. Participate in annual final review of all parcels. Update CAMA property record cards to ensure information is current. Review agricultural parcels for current use. Perform quality control procedures on residential and agricultural valuation sheets. Assist general public with answers regarding appraisal process. Data entry as needed. Attend workshops and schools to update skills. Write annual reports as assigned. Detect errors in physical condition and functional utility, sizes and codes as required. Defend valuations at all levels of hearing processes. Report field observations relating to personal property, residential real estate and commercial real estate to the affected section supervisor.
