Qualifications:

Possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License; Non-Commercial Class B preferred. Eligible to work in the United States.Reside within Reno County.Five years’ experience providing full service public safety functions at an officer’s rank and or management equivalent preferred.Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800. Firefighter 1 or equivalent experience required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in fire service administration, risk management, fire service, community fire protection, etc. required. Credit given for National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program or Center for Public Excellence Chief Fire Officer designation. No felony convictions that have an impact or are related to the essential job duties of this position within the limitations of State and Federal Law.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Emergency Management Director, this position is responsible for the proper, professional, and efficient operation of the Fire Districts excluding the City of Hutchinson and Fire District 2. The Fire Administrator works in fire safety and directly oversees other fire safety professionals, managing volunteers, finances and emergency response. The administrator organizes individuals and ensures that they conduct their work in safe manner by abiding to industry best practices and state statutes. The Fire Administrator works alongside other leaders, including chiefs and captains who work in the fire districts. The County Fire Administrator provides coordination, regulation, administration and management services for all county fire districts; excluding the City of Hutchinson and Fire District 2.
