Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. Completion of IAAO course 101 and Orion Residential/Agricultural data collection course within 2 years of employment. Employee is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all certification requirements relative to the position. Field Appraiser I- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Most of the job specific knowledge required for this position will be taught during the training process. Experience in computer skills and calculator. Knowledge of building structures. Basic math skills. Ability to work well with general public. Maintain a valid Kansas driver's license. Report field observations relating to personal property, residential real estate and commercial real estate to the affected section. Field Appraiser II – All of the Field Appraiser I qualifications and a minimum of 3 years experience as a Field Appraiser I in residential/agricultural.

Responsibilities:

Participate in annual 17% review of real estate. Inspect and appraise new construction, remodeling, alterations and repairs of buildings and other improvements within the county. Assist in verification of sales information and the development and maintenance of sales data files. Assist with all levels of the hearings process. Participate in annual final review of all residential parcels. Update Orion data collection cards to ensure information is current. Other duties as assigned. Operate all job-related machinery, equipment, tools and other aids as required, necessary, or needed in the performance of these job functions. Review agricultural parcels for current use. Perform quality control procedures on residential and agricultural valuation sheets. Assist general public with answers regarding appraisal process. Attend workshops and schools to update skills. Data entry as needed. Write annual reports as assigned.
