Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in health-related field including Health Education and Promotion, Health Administration, Health Sciences or Public Health required. Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration or related field is preferred. 1 – 3 years of experience in public health preferred. Education may be substituted for experience. Bilingual skills helpful, especially Spanish. Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license. Incumbent may be required to travel.

Responsibilities:

Job Objectives: Provide public health education and support policy, environment and systems change which positively impact the health of Reno County residents. Serve as a public health resource person for the Reno County Health Department, and the Reno County community for programs as assigned. Provide worksite wellness coordination and activities for all Reno County employees. Develop worksite wellness policies and practices for internal and external implementation. Communicate with vendors to provide worksite wellness activities and maintain the employee wellness portal. Allocation of work hours is divided between health education and worksite wellness will vary depending on business need. Essential Job Functions: PLEASE CONTACT RENO COUNTY HUMAN RESOURCES FOR A COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION. Provide public relations/communications with other agencies, community partners, and media regarding health promotion information and activities. Perform specific outreach activities and presentations related to public health concerns and health issues of the population served by the Health Department and within the public health workforce at the county and state level. Implement quality improvement processes as needed to identify needs within the structure of the Health Promotion Department and programs developed for the community. Hold various memberships related to public health and health promotion (i.e. KPHA, NCHEC, local health coalitions, etc.). Provide/communicate informed and supported health related information to the public. Implement evidence/research-informed engagement strategies to increase awareness of and support for policies and practices that promote systems, policies and environment changes that enhance health. Assist with grant applications and the development of grant reports to meet funding requirements of designated grants. Attend grant program quarterly meetings as required. Prepare online grant reports as requested by grantor. Manage, schedule and implement community CPR, tobacco cessation and other community health education and wellness classes. Oversee the County Work Well Program which includes: Development of annual goals and objectives including a proposed budget; Provide support/training for employees utilizing the WorkWell Portal. Contact new employees to get them set up and trained as soon as possible after their hire date. Maintain regular contact with the wellness committee to implement programs, incentives for the Work Well Program. Maintain records/metrics regarding the Work Well program and aggregate wellness of the employees. Provide quarterly reporting using aggregate data. Implement quality health education both in person and on-line.
