Qualifications:

High school diploma, Vo-Tech or G.E.D. Two (2) years of experience in facility/equipment maintenance or construction trades. HVAC installation or repair experience preferred. Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

Job Objectives: Takes a lead role in maintaining county owned buildings and grounds by installing, troubleshooting, and/or repairing plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems; troubleshooting and repairing appliances, building automation systems, kitchen and shop equipment; coordinates and participates in the installation of network and phone cables. Responds to after-hours calls as may be required. Essential Job Functions: Communicate and work as a team member in a professional, respectful, positive and constructive manner. Complete routine work orders as assigned; accurately document work completed on the county’s electronic work order system per department policy. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other systems. Assist with troubleshooting, repair, and planned maintenance of HVAC systems as assigned. Install and repair plumbing, sinks, toilets, valves, sewer lines, etc. Install and repair electrical wiring switches, fixtures, motors, transformers, lights, and automatic alarms. Repair doors, electric and mechanical locks, and related hardware. Maintain fire protection equipment, such as sprinkler systems, smoke detectors, strobes and alarms. Keep accurate records of repairs made, work done, and time used. Supervisees inmate labor as needed upon completion of training and certification. Is required to maintain a working cell phone at employee’s expense and makes this cell phone available for work communication as needed. Assist with bid specification preparation, project cost estimates, project design work, or other special projects as requested. Coordinate work with outside contractors with input from Supervisor, and/or Maintenance Director. Perform other duties as assigned including the responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician I, II, or Custodial Worker.

Other Information:
