Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, Associate Arts degree plus two (2) years of experience with intake and assessment services or four (4) years of experience in a youth services setting. General knowledge of the juvenile court system, Kansas Statutes, juvenile offenders code and child in need of care code. Experience in the field is preferred. Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license. Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of being called.

Responsibilities:

Job Objectives: Provide Intake and Assessment services which would allow law enforcement to return to street patrol or other duties. Essential Job Functions: Advise law enforcement of placement options and risk to youth, family and/or community. Report suspected child abuse. Interview children, youth and families who are referred to the program by law enforcement. Refer children, youth and families to community services (i.e., drug and alcohol, mental health, financial assistance, etc.). Advise families on juvenile court process. Resolve family disputes through mediation and/or behavior contracts. Provide follow-up services to families. Arrange for emergency placement, care for children until placement occurs and transport children to placement if necessary. Prepare and submit intake forms. Disperse information gathered to the appropriate agencies. Assist in maintaining facility cleanliness. Set role model for appropriate behaviors.
