Performs a variety of library functions under the supervision of the Youth Services Librarian & Assistant Supervisor. May supervise shelvers and student clerks. Does related work as required. This is a part time (20 hour) position; Monday-Friday 10-2, but must be willing to help evenings and Saturdays as needed.
Aptitude for library work; good understanding of basic aims and services of libraries; Understanding of business and library ethics with relation to sensitive information; initiative; resourcefulness; good judgment; orderliness; accuracy; tact; adaptability; ability to get along with others; compassionate; courteous; displays leadership qualities; ability to make decisions; creativity; ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with library staff and general public, especially children and young adults. Regular attendance and punctuality is essential.
